Full Advisory Text
Warning Description: Areal Flood Warning

Warning Date: 4:09 PM EDT on May 25, 2011

WarningSum:...Flood Warning Remains In Effect For Wayne...Monroe...St. Clair...

Warning Message:Macomb...Washtenaw...Oakland...Livingston and Lenawee counties until
1130 PM EDT Thursday...
At 400 PM EDT...National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Radar
estimates...supported by trained spotters...indicates 1 to 4 inches
of rain has fallen across northern Washtenaw and Wayne
counties...with half an inch to one and half inches elsewhere.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms will move through the area late
this afternoon...with periods of showers and thunderstorms
continuing through tomorrow evening. Many locations will receive
additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches...with higher amounts possible.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams...urban areas...highways...streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
